A unique workshop this Fall through the Continuing Adult Education Program at the Averill Park High School. This event bridges the meditative components of Yoga with the free expression of Dance. Connect with your innermost voice through meditation, and Yoga Nidre, then use that voice to guide yourself into its expanded physical expression through intuitive dance. There is no choreography to learn and ANYONE can step into this beautifully personal practice. Simply come with an open mind and heart to playfully explore a deeper connection with Self as we exercise both body and soul.
For me, JourneyDance™ is a cathartic process in which I am able to express outwardly, through movement, all that I am and feel internally . It is a visceral experience which taps into the wisdom of my own body to heal, resolve, and be playful. There is no wrong or right....it's just a whole lotta fun! Come and reconnect with the dancer inside of you.
Christine Orio is a Classical Musician who performs professionally as a violist and violinist while maintaining a private teaching studio. She finds great artistic freedom not only through the performance of music, but through the physical expression of its partner...dance. Her explorations of music, dance and wellness have lead her to become a certified JourneyDance Facilitator, Yoga Instructor and a licensed Zumba Instructor.
For Christine, artistic expression is a healing modality. It is the movement of emotion; the outward expression of our internal human condition through an inspirational medium no matter its form. It is life telling and life affirming. Christine desires to share the various modalities she studies with others as a method for self exploration. She hopes that through the process of dance, music and yoga, we might come to experience the joy of self expression, healing and playfulness as individuals and in community.
